Our 2020 Resolution Challenge: Revisited

With everything that’s happened this year, it’s hard to believe we’re only halfway through 2020! Don’t you feel like it’s been ages since you’ve popped the champagne, bid hello to the new decade and told everyone who would listen your resolutions for the year? You know, those little goals we always swear we’ll stick to but almost never do?

Well, if you’ve been with us since January, you might recall reading about some of our staff’s challenges. We wrote at the time that we’d check in with them in June to see how far they’ve come. But we did NOT anticipate a global pandemic possibly interrupting their journeys to success!

Find out how or if the coronavirus has impacted the TopCashback team below. And be sure to tell us how your resolutions match up in the comment section underneath this post. We’d love to hear from you.

Patricia – Office Manager

Echo Dot (3rd Gen) - Charcoal, Amazon

When we last talked with Patricia, she had ordered an Echo Dot from Amazon so she could swing, sway and spin around her house a little more. The results?

“I definitely dance with my beloved Echo, but not nearly enough,” she admitted. “I need to nurture that relationship.”

Jon – Affiliate Marketing Manager

Learn to code with HTML - Beginner to Expert, Udemy

Our man Jon wanted to develop his knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Javascript coding by purchasing a class through Udemy. He wasn’t going to let any excuse get in his way.

“I’m still working on the class, but it’s going well,” he said proudly. “I’m learning a lot of new codes that I didn’t know about before.” And while he’s since created a program, “I didn’t know how time-consuming it was going to be,” he added.

Nicole – Influencer Marketing Manager

ClosetMaid Gray Fabric Drawer, The Home Depot

Nicole, like many, was able to take advantage of the government’s stay-at-home orders to get her apartment in tip-top shape.

“In the past few months, I’ve certainly had a lot of extra time at home, which means I’ve had plenty of time to organize,” she shared. “So far, we’ve reorganized our pantry, linen closet, and storage closet.”

Andrew – Senior Vice President, US Operations

800W Folding Electric Treadmill, Best Choice Products

At first, Andrew pretended he never made a resolution to run a 5K. “Nope. Not me,” he joked. But we weren’t going to let him weasel his way out.

“While I’ve been walking on the treadmill on and off lately, and starting to work out with free weights, I’ve also fallen victim to being home much more,” he conceded. “That means eating a lot of unhealthy food and also not really pushing myself to run.”

So, in terms of how far he’s come: “I still can’t even run one mile without stopping,” he said. His new goal is to run one mile – non-stop – by the end of summer. We’re rooting for you, Andrew!

Lee – Engagement and Retention Manager, US Operations

Instant Pot Duo 3 Quart 7-in-1 Multi-Use Pressure Cooker, Best Buy

The ever-reliable Instant Pot was going to help Lee cook something new each week – or so she said.

“During the cold months, I did continue to use my Instant Pot about every two weeks,” she claimed, calling the pressure cooker a real time-saver. “Now that it’s warm out, I grill almost every day. But I’ll get back to using my Instant Pot in the fall.”
