For many of us, budgeting our spending is something we’d rather not do today or tomorrow…or who are we kidding? I mean 2019 just started. January – April
The transition from January to April has a very “out with the old, in with the new” kind of vibe. Cruise lines roll out their best promos during the coldest month—it’s basically their Black Friday. And big box stores, like Macy's and JCPenney, have mattress sales through Presidents’ Day weekend in February.
Come March, you’ll find most winter apparel in the clearance section. And after Easter, you can stock up on low-cost chocolatey goodness for next year.
May – August
With all that glorious sunshine, late spring into summer would seem like a slow time for sales. But there are some gems. Spring clothing is marked down, and indoor activities, like gym memberships and movie tickets, are up for grabs on the cheap.
Amazon has their soon-to-be-giant Prime Day in July. Dubbed a second Black Friday, this growing feeding frenzy sparked major retailers, like Walmart and Target, to have their own promos.
In August, some states provide tax-free shopping days. This is a perfect time to scoop up back-to-school supplies.
September – December
The crisp autumn season and festive winter days bring a carnival of retail offers. Apple announces their new iPhone in September, so the older models significantly drop in price. And they discount almost all of their computers.
Outdoor furniture goes on sale in October, and you’ll see some of the best electronic discounts on Black Friday and Cyber Monday in November. Holiday decorations go on clearance in late December.
